Yes always difficult if you are relying on the car, have no back up and have to pay someone to do the work. There comes a point when moving it on and buying something more reliable is appealing.

Guys, don't we have anyone near Richard who can help? I know he hasn't asked, as such, but his mechanic isn't making much progress...

Maybe I should go back to a motorcycle as I could still vaguely remember how to use one; would need a side car for the better half now of course…. Appreciate the plea on my behalf slovcan. |

It’s now started to stall.
Maybe low fuel pressure due to solenoid seal going? Anyone nearby who could assist in fitting new seal and pressure sensor? I’m still off the road and now relying on lifts, taxis and have now just booked a week’s car hire. This issue is going badly for me and the other half. Despite this we still want to keep the car going as we’re sure that is just a simple problem but its just getting the dots joined up/planets in alignment to get parts fitted. Garages around here are either far too busy or, in 2 cases, think I should go to a diesel specialist! Last edited by PMAN01; 5th November 2021 at 18:10.. Reason: Added more info |

Ta Arctic & stocktake. I’ve ordered the fuel pressure sensor, seals for the regulator and just ordered a regulator in case, as I’ve read here, that sometimes it’s not the seals but the regulator itself that could be duff. I just need someone who’s able to replace these things as it’s likely to be one of them! Less likely the sensor maybe. The car is 3 miles away at an industrial estate (where my local garage is to work) so would have to meet up with someone there and fit the parts so it’s no workshop I know but at least accessible.

Update…
Contacted my local garage to update them on the other garage that were contemplating fixing regulator. Other garage said they don’t want to take on the job (replacing the regulator isn’t that bad surely?!). My garage said they’ll replace the fuel pressure sensor and regulator if I get the parts and they have a cancellation! We have progress, of sorts! Parts are already on order anyway so I’m hoping to get the parts and car key to them on Wed and then wait for a job cancellation.
Can anyone say how long a job it is to replace the fuel pressure sensor (it looks like it just screws on) and replace the HP regulator? Last edited by PMAN01; 8th November 2021 at 18:16.. |
