Default Canon drivers

I have my laptop running well , especially after the one or two problems once the old norton 360 was removed. Been spot on with the avast one installed. I now have a problem with my printer. Canon pixma 4010 (g4511) . It has suddenly stopped working since the last windows 10 update , i suspect it is something to do with adobe ( which i dont have any subscription , just basic PDF usage ) I think microsoft and adobe have their heads together somehow to increase profits ... The printer is only used via USB and responds fine on boot up ready to print. Suddenly i cannot print any docs, pictures , or files . Seems very strange , but has coincided with the last major microsoft update. I have tried installing the drivers again on cannon website to no avail. I have read that canon have removed all support for pixma models , which is probably why their website , although appears to do this reinstall , fails at the last hurdle. No difference, cannot print. I am looking for a simple download for the software and drivers, as it did not come with a disk (no good anyway as my laptop does not have the drive for it ) Please dont tell me i have got to cough up again to use my own printer !! Any ideas please ? ...

Just to add. My once functioning desktop icon for my printer is still there , but does not respond. Right clicking with the mouse takes me to the file location which is now empty ! All my icons are still in place in my computer and other devices. (5) for the canon printer and all say this device is working properly.I ran trouble shooters on all but all tell me this device is working ok ....

Also , when i have a document ready for print , as soon as i click the print icon,my files all come up in a box to choose , instead of printing the already selcted item. This appears every time with the adobe site coming up for subscription. I have now downloaded 10 mins ago adobe latest version and will try again tomorrow ,as its a little late now !! i think adobe is part of this strange problem , but again , im no expert ...

My Dad recently upgraded the version of Avast on his laptop and it caused some problems, being very heavy handed in blocking software applications it thought were unsafe for some reason. His laptop is actually quite old (at least 10 years) and whilst it has been upgraded to Windows 10, is still running an old version of Micrsoft Office (2013 I think). Avast blocked all Microsoft Office applications from working and some old photo editing software too. We had to go into Avast and create some exceptions for those software applications: https://support.avast.com/en-gb/arti...-apps/#android

Since then, my Dad has enlisted the help of a local IT specialist as I'm over 150 miles away and can't always help easily, plus I'm no IT expert either! He told me that the specialist wasn't at all surprised at what happened with Avast.

Could this be your problem?

Well done mat for suggesting this !! Just removed Avast one free version and .... bingo.!!! The pc now operates on USB and WI-FI . I have gone back to defender plus AVG free. All working again. I looked at your link in the post and tried to follow the instructions , but could not do so , as avast would not allow the unblocking options .... unless you have bought the premium version. So off it came. Shame really as i was happy otherwise. See how i go on again with this. Surely defender plus AVG on a secure private network should be ok , but i did have problems sneaking in last time ! thanks again ..
