Wireless networking in vista for one.

By XP SP2 Wireless networking was simple to use and reliable.

With Vista, I have had a number of problems.

Then we have the display drivers for Intel crashing repeatedly.

I seem to do the technical support for my family running windows PCs and by far the most reliable are on XP. Of course IMO they would be better on OS X but unfortunately, mum doesn't like Macs

Commercially Vista has been a bit of a mess for Microsoft and one they hope to put behind them with 7. Launch is slated for late '09 and if nothing else I do hope they use the time to work with partners in order that the issues around drivers is not repeated.

In defence of them I will say that since they stopped being in denial about the sometimes woeful quality of their products they now take security far more seriously than rivals and work faster to introduce fixes when issues are found. I just wish they could write leaner - the size of Vista is to me quite shocking and I find the need to have such a highly powered machine to cope irritating. Oh for the days of simplicity and genuine innovation!

i have a HP laptop
it had winXP on it when i bought it, but switched to Vista 64bit when it was released.
HP had all the drivers up on site, except the webcam driver (which came out a month later)
the laptop have worked fine since
so no complaints about vista here

I have at last thrown out my BBC B Computer,
as besides being a museum piece was also taking up needed space.
Now that use to take me about 30 Minutes just to write a screen saver in Basic for it.
