Default Converting cassette audio to MP3

I have Creative 7.1 speakers attached to my sound card which have the creative wired remote control.

One of the functions of the remote control is an "auxiliary line in" socket.

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to connect a cassette player to this socket and record a cassette to MP3 please?

If so, how would I do it?

Thanks

I'm not familiar with the Creative remote control, but I have recorded several cassettes to MP3. It's a bit fiddly, what I did was connect the cassette player earphone socket to the computer line in and record using Roxio. This records the whole track to a .wav file. Again using Roxio, I separate the individual tracks, enhance the sound if necessary and then convert them to mp3 using dbpoweramp. It's a similar procedure recording vinyl to mp3. The results are not as good as a CD. As this is a public forum I had better state that I would not dream of doing this with copyrighted material!

Probably doesn't answer your question, Paul, but I have one of these on my PC:

Works very well too.

Thanks Pedro. Can you tell me the exact name of the Roxio software please?

I went to their web site and there are so many software titles that I haven't a clue which I need to try.

Thanks

I use MAGIX AUDIO CLEANING LAB software. Converts vinyl and tape to mp3, CD-R and it takes the hiss and crackle out etc.
Have used this for year as I can then go around the charity shops buying old vinyl and tapes and playing them on modern equipment. Well recomended

Paul, I use Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 which is compatible with Windows XP (after downloading updates) but not with Vista. I also have Creator 9 which is compatible with Vista but is a lot less user friendly. I think Nero may have similar functions. Creator 6 is obviously a very old version but I think you can pick them up on ebay. Whether or not they are kosher, I couldn't say.
