Default KV6 big end bearing failure

Hello all.

After fixing a timing issue where Cylinder 1 valves were bent the engine ran fine for about 50 miles before a rather loud rattle started to come from the engine. Garage checked all the pulleys etc as they would have been taken off etc. However on removing the sump pan the oil is full of little bits of white metal which suggests a Big End bearing failure. Is this common with KV6 engine and is it a doable fix?

I've been caught out massively from the previous who I believe knew there was something big wrong with the engine.
