Default Accident damage to sill - advice would be appreciated

Colleagues! I am furious with myself - I've just damaged the outer sill on my 75 and it's going to need repair. I've been to a local bodyshop and he says I need to find a replacement outer sill. This could be cut from a scrap 75, or (of course) a new part. He would then cut out the damaged section, let in a new section, and paint it. The long chrome-like trim along the top of the sill is also damaged beyond repair, so again a part from a scrap car is required.

I have zero experience in body repairs and don't really know how to proceed. Does anyone know of a breaker that specialises in our car, or at least has one being broken? I live in Nottingham, but could travel any reasonable distance.

Will a breaker be willing and able to cut the sill off in a suitable state for reuse? Can anyone recommend a body shop that can handle cars of this age?

I've got a couple of photos. I'll clean them up and upload them a bit later. Thanks for any help or advice.

Or as the OP has Nottingham in his profile why not go and visit Thomas in person: based in Nottingham too.

As said Tom Hobbs just North of you - however long waiting list - he does make excellent sills to order and has been said he sells them on E BaY.

Without question Steve, go to Tom Hobbs for the whole job. The quality of his panel beating will take your breath away. As with all bodywork repairs, the raw materials are cheap so forget about the idea of a donor car.

Hey, you guys are fantastic! I had no idea about any of the sources you mention, or Tom Hobbs, so I'm going to get in touch with him tomorrow.

It was such a silly mistake. I was driving forward out of my parking space at Tesco's and forgot I was next to a trolley bay. I was incredibly fortunate in one way: the damage was limited to the sill - both doors were completely untouched. In that regard I'm extremely lucky!

Thanks again, guys.

As mentioned, get the part from Tom Hobbs. It’s perfect. Then get someone to weld it. Tom doesn’t work on the cars anymore as he’s too busy. He just supplies the sills.

So I've been to see Tom this afternoon, and he will have the necessary panels ready in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile I'm going in search of a suitable body shop.

Thank you all again - brilliant help!
