Got to the hospital early this morning and it wasn't open, main doors don't open until 7am.
So l had to enter via the Emergency entrance. I had to be on the Admissions ward by 7.30am. After seeing the nurse, the anaesthetist and my surgeon l am now ready, will be going into surgery at about 10.30am, fingers crossed. Sent from my moto g(7) power using Tapatalk

SWMBO is waiting for an op on a hammer toe - so expect the same sort of delays.
My last op was for a my umbilical hernia that ruptured when I lifted a large bag of wet straw - wet straw mess is a lot heavier than you think! The op was fine - woke up not even realising it had been done. Well it’s 10:45 now and I hope you’re asleep and it’s all happening. I’m toasting your good health with my mid morning cuppa! |

Mr Andrews my Consultant Surgeon was able to do keyhole surgery which is far better for me.
However things didn't go very well as l was in surgery over 4hrs. Won't know what happened until later. Have had hardly any sleep, been in lot pain plus they won't let me lie flat so l don't fit on the bed being nearly 6ft 5" tall. I was able to eat so had tuna sandwiches then 2hrs later had mashed potato, sausages, peas with gravy. Followed by creamy rice pudding, gorgeous it was. How the food has improved, years ago it was inedible. Thank you very much for all the comments and encouragement as having no next of kin makes things rather lonely. I have been working on my "bucket list". Things l want to do next year. Will keep you updated. Sent from my moto g(7) power using Tapatalk

Thank you for your diary of an admission Neil. Please keep it coming. It's the detail which paints such a useful picture (the anxious moment at 07.00 when confronted with locked doors, the appreciated food, post-op discomfort).

Was thinking about you yesterday Neil, glad all went well. As you know mine had to be changed to open surgery and they they found more complications which meant almost 7 hours in the theatre.
Nice to hear your enjoying your food again hope you have a swift recovery.

This morning l got a longer bed as hardly any sleep is no fun. I went through 14 mugs of tea and 4 750ml jugs of water from 9pm through to 7am.
Plus they given me fan to keep cool. I met with a different Consultant today as mine is off this this weekend. I will be in all weekend which is what l knew would happen. Will be going onto antibiotics - still waiting for these to turn up. The last 2 cannular's are to removed but don't know when. Food is brilliant, l eat better in here than l do at home, 4 meals a day, plenty of tea, squash. I had 2 puddings this lunchtime apple & custard followed by my favourite jam sponge & custard. I know the lady as she has served me food many times over the last few years. I found out what happened with my operation as it took 4 hours instead of 2 hours. They put a nick in my bowel which had to be stitched up. Because of this the drain has to stay in until Monday. I watched lreland v Samoa Rugby match on my mobile via the ITV App. Good game.
