lol, being this is the hijackers thread.. just thought id pop on and hijack it... it is the "night shift" after all lol.. and everyone else seems to of headed off.

for anybody who says diesels are slow and boring,

just had to have a new pair of tyres fitted today, previous pair only lasted 2 weeks.. completely killed them... in a diesel! did some "spirited driving" (not on a public road) lol and it kind of destroyed the tyre... luckily I have a spare pair of alloys which are slightly buckled (both damaged by potholes ) so I was able to temporarily switch so I was driving on road legal tyres.

and as a side note in case anybody thinks I was driving wrecklessly on a public road and has a pop at me, im all for having a little fun behind the wheel in the right environment.. but I do condone dangerous driving on public roads that is likely to put other peoples lives at risk as well as your own.

I think I do need to find a cheaper way of having fun though lol... £492 worth of tyres in a month is not a cheap hobby
but hey, lol we all need to unwind every now and again and have a little fun... cars arent just for getting to A-B, they are about the driving experience.

I was just teasing him, honest guv.

He was in a determined mood to convince me that holts Rad-weld, made and used for the last 50 years, damaged nearly every engine it was put in.

My question when I started the thread was simply to find out how an R75 heater matrix was constructed.

He NEVER DID answer my question in open forum or in PM's even though he must have written several hundred words in reply !!!!!!

C'est la vie.

Colvert. ( Butting out. Lol )

Must admit that from my own experience, if cabin heat is non existant on passengers side then it is not likely to be a control flap problem, as Terry points out, confirming post 5----
Probably was though in days gone by with mechanical flap control----

As for dying brain cells, they say hundreds die every day----lol
Thank you Martyn.

If I was an expert I would Know and not have to ask the question.

As you say ,years ago it would be a cable operated flap and A LOT LESS trouble. Lol. ( One flap did BOTH sides. )
The air flowed straight through the rad and into the car and if the rad was partially blocked then ALL the air entering the cabin was cooler. Hence my query about the makup of the R75 matrix and method of splitting the airflow.
Took a while to get an accurate answer though. Lol.
Not yet had a satisfactory answer why one side of the matrix gets blocked before the other though. Somebody suggested the flow slows down but of course that is not so cos you can't compress water.
If it is going in at a gallon a minute then its coming out at a gallon a minute too.
All I can think is maybe it has something to do with heat loss as the water passes through the matrix and the cooling effect causes the water born sludge to precipitate out.
A good question for the scientific community on the forum to think about and maybe find an answer.
