Cold air intake system
Has anyone else done this as i am intending to do this to mine any pics of one been already done would be good to see as i understand there is a bit of cutting of the pipes involved and a few odd sizes of hoses required.

Herman it is the 75mm not the 70mm so all good there 😊 however I still have my work cut out with the piping.

Cold Air Intake - ZT260
Hi, I have done two of these, one on each of the V8's I have. I don't have any pictures with me but they are in the two-sixties gallery under My V8. I bought Ford Motorsport racing filters and they are at least twice the size of the ones you get with the induction kits. I would look to get a much bigger filter. I mounted the filters behind the front bumper. If you get the pipe angles right the MAF can sit down at the bottom of the induction system and the filter can be mounted off this. The MAF on both my cars are the link from the engine bay through the inner wing gap to the space behind the bumper. Its a bit fiddly to line everything up. I used the mounting fixings from the standard system behind the front bumper to secure to. I had to fabricate a bracket for this.
I did this some years ago so can't remember the exact details but seem to remember there was a welded joint in the mustang induction kit. This put the bend and offset of the pipe at the wrong angle for the ZT so I cut through the welded joint and used the pipes in a different configuration to make it work. Hope that helps and good luck. It makes a huge difference to the engine response. One has the accufab and the other is standard. Both were much more responsive. All the best - JB |

I was always under the impression that metal pies weren't the best as they will absorb too much heat?

Its okay if you run from cold as the velocity will keep the air cold but run slow and the air density is affected. Not sure if the smoother flow surface balances out the lower density.
Got these Aldor but its too late as your got the pipe. If you did want to go this route can try and get it in purple
