Default 260 K&N Induction

Hi. I'm looking to fit an air induction system (K&N) to my 260, but i'm having trouble finding a system. I can find a conical filter on line however they don't fit directly as they are over size to current air tube. I can't easily find a complete induction system to buy, why is that? Do you fellow 260 owners have a K&N system fitted and if so where was it sourced from?

I can see they are available for the Ford Mustang 4.6L unit, so logic is that one of these could fit/be adapted, thoughts please.

thanks Gerry

Okay, is it conical or straight design? The one I received was conical but way to big to fit in to the standard air duct. It was about 8 inches largest diameter. Do you have the details of where you purchased yours please? thanks Gerry

Are you looking in the right place? The straight intake tube goes into a larger canister in the wing area behind the front bumper on the (UK-) drivers' side. That canister is the filter housing for the conical filter.

A Two Sixties member inverted his system to shorten it. Did not look at it too much as I'm okay with mine as is with a K&N cone. Because of the supercharger been thinking about improving the volume intake but not sure how I'm going to do it while trying to keep the engine bay looking original as possible.

Hi, I couldn't see that in the wing section as the plastic cover screws were seized in position, it didn't look like there was room for it however I will persevere and follow your advice, thks.

Default Cold Air Intake

You can modify a mustand cold air induction kit to do this and it moves the air filter to behind the bumper in the off side front wing. If you look in my pictures on the two-sixties you can see the one I fitted to my fathers ZTT. Mustang kit was for a 98 to 02 4.6 if I remember correctly. Can't remember exactly what the mods were. You will also need an extra silicone hose 90 degree bend. Have to say it made a big difference to the car. Revved much more freely and the induction sound is great. Hope that helps. Good luck. JB

As done by others, I just replaced mine with a K&N in the standard airbox.
