Injector removal help

Hi,
My 02 cdt has been missing a cylinder when idling and diagnostics say it’s injector number 2.The problem is my local garage says it’s stuck fast and won’t come out.The only solution offered is to weld a slide hammer to the injector to free it! My worry is it will create more problems if it doesn’t work and end in scraping the car.
Has anyone any suggestions? Thanks.......

Go to a different garage. Injectors do get stuck but reputable companies sell a component that fit onto the handle of the slide hammer which then screws into the Bosch injector. No need for welding at all.

the injector will be tight and should be prised out do you have a replacement injector and are you able to tackle the job your self

Hi Ivor
As already stated find another garage, the injectors are quite easy to remove with an hot engine.

With a cold engine then yes maybe you would need a slide hammer, but it would certainly not need welding to the injector.

Who ever does remove the injector and they prise it out make sure they protect the cam cover with a flat bar to prise off, other wise the cam cover can and will crack if prised off.

Thanks for the help! I’ll look for the right puller attachment.The garage was trying to but the responsibility on me If their proposed method of removal failed.

Have they tried pouring any vinegar or any penetrating oil down the side of the injector? This can loosen the deposits that are preventing it from being extracted, you may have to do it a couple of times and leave it to soak

I once had a customer who wanted a full set changing, they wouldn't shift at all, in the end he ended up calling in a mobile injector removal specialist who used a hydaulic ram to remove them. He posted it up on here but I can't find it.

I'd try soaking it and using a proper removal set first
