Hi to all
t4 says there is a egr fault and i have taken the solenoid off and you can blow through it and if i am correct the solenoid should open when the ecu sends a signal but i tested mine and it is open all the time so i think this is the fault i put a continuity tester between the two pins and there is a circit there i but 12v to one pin then the other to earth and you can feel the solenoid enegizing but i think the valve is stuck in the open position david |

Is T4 saying there's a egr fault after looking at the injector balance figures?
If it is then it's a false fault, just one of the many anomalies you'll find Russ

hi bigruss
yes but the EGR is not opening there is voltage going to the solenoid the brown/grey wire from the solenoid to the ECU is ok now if I am correct from the ECU it goes to the speed sensor I will check this next now the way I tested the solenoid was I took voltage to the solenoid then to earth started the engine and earthed the solenoid the EGR opened so there is either a fault with the wiring or there is a faulty speed sensor david |

I would have thought that one full load it would be closed. The main reason for EGR is to reduce NOX which is produced when an engine runs with excess air (oxygen) . At full load the engine needs all its air but at part throttle the fuel is reduced and therefore less oxygen is required so the oxygen in the air intake volume is reduced by diluting it with exhaust gas. It is also operates for other reasons but the main one is to reduce NOX.
