Default Crankshaft Position Sensor

Where is this located on a V6? Getting code P0336 was only getting P0306 but getting both now.

Waiting for pencil to arrive to resolve P0306.

Thanks,
Pat

I checked some of the previous posts and belive this could be preventing the engine from starting.

Hello Pat,

P0336 does indicate a crankshaft position sensor circuit fault, "no plausible signal" and it will prevent the engine starting. It's located in the region of the starter motor. It has a 3 pin connector with yellow/blue, white/blue and black/grey wires but check fuse 1 in the engine fusebox first.

P0306, misfire on no. 6, could be a consequence of the first fault so I'd leave that for the time being if I were you.

Hi Simon thanks checked fuse F1 and it looked fine.

Sorry is the sensor on the bottom of the engine? So I would need to remove undertray to see it?

The first code I got was P0306 with missfire and then the next day I got P0336 and car would not start it sometimes does get going but will cut out after a few seconds?

Haynes reckons that you do (page 4B-7 where you'll find three photographs of it). It's apparently "at the front of the transmission bellhousing".

Take the airbox out and you'll have perfect access to it, located halfway down the engine on the front closet to where you'll be standing and looking.
