Is there a specific part number for this or do they vary from model to model? (2002 2.5)

I had a similar experience but my problem was corrosion on the starter motor leads. Chris.S.

Ray. The part advertised on ebay will fit ok. If you dont want that one ,then buy the ones advertised on DMGRS website on here. Little bit dearer but it will give you peace of mind about being correct. He can send you this to yourself or direct to the repair garage. Its very easy to fit yourself and is very accessible being at the top of the engine on your right hand side , in front of you. No doubt would save you a bundle of cash to do it yourself. ...

Member "workaholic ro" posted in 2012 that a BMW X3, X5, and Z4 camshaft sensor can be used. Thread here: Click

There is one currently listed on ebay with a starting price of 99p and a shipping cost of £3.49. No bids on it yet and auction due to end ~ 19hrs. Click

The ebay link for the sensor that workaholic ro posted expired some time ago and he did not post a part number but he did give the BMW models X3, X5 and Z4. The camshaft sensor for them is listed in the following link showing the same part number as one of the numbers in the ebay listing. Click

So it should be the same one but I cannot guarantee it nor that it is indeed interchangeable as workaholic ro claims. Also note that another member on that thread (post 15) obtained a camshaft sensor via one of the links and found it a really tight fit but that it does the job. It could be that the items in the links had slight differences and the same may or may not be so of the ebay item in my link above. I am merely the messenger and any risk is yours to accept and to take.
