I think you need to have the car on ramps and remove the bottom engine cover/splash shield Martin.

Hi Rich
I was starting to think it must be one of the lower hoses as the photo view doesnt look like anything I can see looking down from the top. Ive got the car booked in to a diesel specialist tomorrow to run some checks regarding the over fuelling (the bosch MAF and MAFAM are smoking as much as the piersburgh, and pick up isnt as good so Bosch must be out of spec) so hopefully it maybe something as simple as a leaking hose, will print off the info and pass it on to them. They will let me know what it will cost to put right if they find anything but the remap, mafam and tu3b might throw a spanner in the works so hopefully they might test with and without. My ZT obviously didnt realise there was a smoking ban from 1st July in public places!!!!!! Last edited by martin1973; 4th July 2007 at 19:13.. |

Jules, could you pull away a bit on your next photo shoot. Just to get a better idea where this pipe is?
Thanks. |

Yes Myjess! That shot was with the bumper & slam panel off. (just written another jules tips on a quick way of slam panel removal)
It is difficult to see with bumper on, but you will possibly see the pipe with a mirror from the top down past the battery. I'm just waiting to get the parts catalogue on CD EPC and hopefully an exploded view is on there

Had my ZT looked at today for a so far unfound rattle and leak, and got them to check the intercooler hose.
Anyway mine is a June 04 plate pre-face lift cdti and MG must have realised this was a fault as mine (and said has seen the same on others) is a push over fit with a jubille clip so no way of leaks unless the hose itself split. |

Not sure whether intercooler housing design was changed round about the age of yours. 53 Plate to 04 plate so it's not Facelift dependant. This is also same time Rover did away with the secondary diesel fuel pump by the battery.

Edited my pics in POST #No 1 to make this subject clearer and to clarify there is less dismantling than we originally thought.
Remove Bumper & passenger headlamp only slam panel can remain in place. Takes about an hour for whole job, but don't forget to check all the other things mentioned while front is off
