Hey chaps.
What byte needs to be changed to get the V8 to display the fuel consumption then? From reading this thread and the other one about enabling the digital speedo it seems that it only mentions changing it to 21 to enable the speedo on the other models, I looked at my car today after getting my hands on a BMW scanner and I'm not entirely sure what I need to change to get the fuel consumption to show, as having the V8 I already have the digital speedo. *Edit* ...Having read back through the threads again, is it that changing to 21 enables BOTH the options whatever you previously had then? Good work on this...
Originally I believe this was developed for the police, using a Testbook 3 with a very early 75 diagnostic CD I was able to configure the car to UK Police spec, but had no effect on the display. It was a very early 75 and I suspect the digital readout had not been thought of at that stage... On a V8 with factory nav (or BMW upgrades), in the menu under settings, the display can be changed from MPH to KPH, which is very useful for continental driving. I presume this will work with this too... |

The digital readout works on all MC IPK's Nick, it wasn't a police spec thing, if you configure your car with it, nothing changes at all!!

Hi Phil,
If i want to sit at my desk and try random changes to the code on a live ipk, is it as simple as powering the ipk and connecting the ipk k-bus to the BMW tester dongle correct pin?? Or is it easier to use the soci8... maybe faster?? second point, how can i sumulate the press of the stalk end button to scroll through the MS displays...? I can see no direct connection in Rave... my goal is to try to get MPH digi to display as default on power up.... no intelegance behind it , just methodic code changes till something happens...

I've just had this brilliant little mod done Dorset Bob
He used the BMW software that's been mentioned. I'm now trying to get a comparison on how accurate it might be as far as the MPG readout is concerned, against the standard IPK readout from the stalk. Anybody got any ideas ? The MPH readout is apparantly about 2% accurate. Cheers trimani (Alf) |
