What I do is wrap some solder wire around one of the threads on the shock top and push in the other end into pin 3, then leave for 20-30 mins, if will turn it self off. But I remove the wire from pin 3 until the next time.

Goinfg to get a remote from Maplins - this one

Did some tests - mine is the older 66232C.

Turns on when 12v applied

Stops at 45 seconds ("hoover" noise stops, just hear a whirring from the unit), whirring stops around 1:25, then hoover noise starts ~1:28, which continues to about 3:28 where it stops.

Sent the PCB to Mike who says its ok - does it sound like it's working right, or not?

Bump...

Also, when I primed the fuel pump, I sucked fuel from the tank to the pump - on further reading, some people also sucked from the FBH end, sucking fuel through the entire car - should I of done this instead?

You can draw some diesel though from the FBH side with a syringe if you wish, but the system is self priming so no real need.
Can you hear the fuel pump ticking after a few seconds?

Hi Jakg. Has your FBH ever run? It sounds like it hasn't got fuel.
If you are still in the priming stage the FBH will shut down after 3 failed attempts at starting, then it's wires off to reset it! If I remember rightly that is . And seeing as the pump only shifts the fuel along at about a cm at a time it would help you loads if you sucked some through from the FBH side. I used a jam jar full of diesel with the fuel pipe at the tank end before the pump and tank, dipped in it.
Lastly and please don't take this the wrong way.... As Matt says Is the pump working and/or the right way round? A way to tell is if you can smell the fuel from the exhaust while it's trying to start.
Really lastly. If all else is working and fuel is there suspect the glow plug as possibly faulty.
Hope it's working soon my friend.

Regards. Steve.

From memory, the pcb goes through a checking procedure of testing each componant in turn and if one is not functioning it will shut down.

I think the glow pin is checked before the fuel pump, so if the glow pin is not working, the fuel pump will never get activated, and it will shut down.

If it finds a fault with the fuel pump or bad connections to it, it will also shut down.

Hi guys,

My diagnostics are always on going:

WEBASTO FBH DIAGNOSTICS update

-Engine cold and stopped

-At first, unplug then replug the power connector (or fuse F8) in order to reset the system.
-Connect permanently Pin 3 to earth. (To + batt in case of older model)
Simultaneously start a TIMER and listen when the fan stops

IF stop after 3 sec, restart 4 seconds later and finally stop at 2 minutes 7 sec;
An error is generated; may be caused by:

-Battery voltage lower than 10 volts
-Glow plug open or short circuit
-Circulation pump open or short circuit
-Fuel pomp open
-PCB defective (send me a PM)

IF a weird turbine noise appears at a door opening e.g.,PCB likely faulty.

IF stop after more than 2 minutes 10 sec, then
PCB and all devices are good (except doubtful glow plug)

IF stop at 4 minutes 5 sec, Glow plug resistor too high (0,6 ohms for instance),

IF stop at 4 minutes 40 sec it is a ignition fault, (fuel pump priming fault e.g.)

Mike

Ok have been testing our one out, in test mode eg pin 3 grounded & 12v to pin 2 (found this out by accident) as it overides the 5deg C switch.

It runs fine for a good 10 mins until water up to about 65deg C approximately as measured at the top hose. Then shuts down as it should.

However it does not work by itself in this cold frosty weather. It obviously has not run for some time as there was lots of oily crud on the exhaust that made quite a bit of smoke to start with.

It is enabled in the programming system & it can be tested via the system too

Why pin 2 to 12 volts ? it's the kbus ?

When external temp is lower than 5 degrees AND engine running,
you must measure + 12 volts on the pin 1 .

However, may be needs a good service ;see the Harry's "how to"
