Question Wet Boot

Noticed for the first time today the carpet was damp towards the rear of the boot right hand side. Side walls were perfectly dry

The boot well was also wet 3MM water slushing about so removed everything & got it dried out but could not see where the water was coming in

As I said the boot side wall liners all dry & it's never been damp before. We did have a storm Thursday night & poured down for 24 hours often very heavy.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Oh aye, I get that as well. Another thing to add to the problem list. Again, no idea where it's coming from. Lock yourself in the boot with a torch, give the keys to someone you trust and ask them to pour water over the car til you locate the leak.

I'll bet you it'll be the seals around the rear lights. They have a little rubber/foam gasket sealing them against the bodywork - this splits where it is joined together during fitting. Normal course of action is:
a) Remove light cluster
b) remove/refit/repair gasket as necessary
c) add some silicone sealant for good measure
d) refit and smile

About a 10-15min job per side.

LOL it's an idea!

Can think of a few people I could lock in the boot

Sorry about your troubles, hope it's sorted or you get a new motor soon.

Check the seals on the rear light clusters, known to let water in

Edit: God I'm slow today

Remove both, check for splits on the seals, if all OK fit left one to the right cluster and the right one on the left cluster. Gives the seals a new lease of life

Small amount of silicone is a good idea as well

I had been getting water in my boot from three different souces; the afore mentioned light cluster seals, which were both split, the seal round the boot edge, which i ran a bead of clear silicon round the outside of and also the small clips which hold the rear screens outer 'chrome' trim these were loose, again some judiciously applied silicon and its been dry ever since.

I have found my leak source in my boot, I will try and upload a photo showing you where, probably tomorrow now.
