Default Catalytic Converter for a 1.8 non turbo

My Wifes 75 has just got about got through MOT and I was advised of a failing Cat. I was advised that it would be better to get an original secondhand Catalytic converter than the current offerings on the market so if anyone has one available please could you let me know.

It is very hard to find anyone selling genuine cats secondhand due to the scrap value of MG Rover cats which go from £200 TO £500 depending on models Scrap yards do not sell them out and we keep all our secondhand ones to sell on to Cat dealers. Unfortunately you might find it difficult to find a second hand unit

Thank you for the information. Most useful,
I am hopefully sorted now as I have just purchased an original one from someone breaking a 1.8 for spares in Germany.
I seems like It would be worthwhile to see if I can sell the old Cat when I swap over!

The guy that bought mine used a piece of wire to see if the material was still there. Apparently they aren’t worth anything if the material inside is collapsing (he was probably stretching that a bit, but that’s what they’ll look for)

It seems I am still in the market for a Catalytic converter as what is in the attached image arrived today.
Correct me if I am wrong but it seems to be missing some essential part!
