Its difficult for me as I do know I have no real mech knowledge and if I post saying " I hink its this or I dont agree that " ill come accross as a burk because if i knew my cars I wouldnt be in such need of you guys advice !.

However from what I was reading I couldnt see how it was down to the intercooler seals alone as even Googling alone told me you shouldnt have litres of oil through your intercooler let alone lose it

I am thinking turbo ready to go pop now you guys are pointing me that way , what do you think ?

The bloomin car runs well though its definately on boost at the moment no question , it runs like a proper CDT auto. Thing is I have to commute 70 miles a day and have to have a car proper in 2 weeks time when the MOT runs out which is why I may have to give up on her with my level of
'expertise' (not)

The worst thing you can do is just change the intercooler seal rings if you have lost that much oil. If it is getting into the intercooler and you seal up the places it is getting out of then sooner or later the engine could run away on its own oil.

Agree with Drewbie - get it all sorted and then do the intercooler rings.

Thanks for taking an interest people , I have phoned Phil and left him a message. I'm not expecting other folk to cure my ills by the way, honestly and if the cars a gonner so be it. I am thinking turbo oil seals from what I'm hearing. I did clear out the PCV about 6 months ago by the way, it was full of tar. I had read not long after getting the car that it was a good thing to do so I did it. I wasn't brave enough to do the preventitive thing re the ECU flood but I have a bill for it having had a replcement one in the past ( and a recon gearbox) , it has been a well looked after 75 in its lifetime clearly so this is a bit sad.

As you can tell I have tried to read up and do a bit and I am genuinely in to modern classics.

Regards
Mas

Mas just a thought - when you check the oil level do you pull the dipstick out first then replace it and pull out again to get the reading?

When you first pull it out you won't see a level as the dipstick tube airlocks. If you have been overfilling it then it may not be a problem with the turbo. How much oil did you have to put in each time when topping it up?

I hope I'm not rantig on too much re my probs but here goes.

I genuinely dont think could have overfilled it and would happily put my hands up if I had but here's the gist : I have only opped the car up once that I remember in 10 months of ownership maybe wice at best.

The oil leak was spotted mby my eagle eyed missus and when i dipped the car ( level surface eave for an hour and wipe the dip stick , I found it wasnt even on th minimum. I thn bought 5 litres and filled about a litlre at a time re dippung as i went and eventually I got to about half way between bottom and top mark on the stick.

If I have overfilled it and cocked it up I'll be the happiest man on the planet

Also , I have cleaned the PCV 8 months ago but didnt do the EGR as it was a bit harder to get at for what its worth.

I think I'm going to try and save this car because though I fealt rather dispondent , Im genuinely chuffed at the fact that other folk are potentially willing to help me save it.

Regards Mas

Hi. The egr is easier to do than the pcv . When you have got this prob sorted, get and clean the egr out. Tools:-spanner to fit 4 bolt's rag, swarfega to get the crud off it, and something to scrape the gunge off after you have used the swarfega, and a toothbrush.

Nice one! Will be doing mine next week and was wondering what to use to clean it with.
