No, it wasn't my old car. Probably part of the same "batch" I'm convinced was built at the end of the Mk 1 run. There seem to be have been a number of Starlight Silver Connie SE's registered on the AX53 number in early 2004. My own car was about 800 from the chassis number changeover for the Mk 2.

My theory has been explored HERE

Dont be too hard on the old girl, it'll tidy up nicely with a little bit of time spent
There were a few differences from my car but it was certainly close and as you say, factory fit electric heated alcantara seats in a 75 seems to be very rare. The real walnut dash and part of a tow bar left were all the same as mine too. However Paul's car had a rear blind (mine didn't). Mine, when I sold it, had a ZT steering wheel, walnut dash kit, lowering springs all round, a Cowley boot handle and badge and Subaru Alloys.

This was how my car looked a few months before I sold it Paul (on 111,000 miles).

(This is before the lowering springs)

Cool

Great meet. Nice to meet old and new. Great pictures especially Banana in front of the High Viz sign. I'll post a few up over the next couple of days.

Once I've got time to spruce up my car I'll get some pics sorted. It does look almost identical to mine.

Would be interesting to find how many conni se AX53's were made with the same trim and colour code, and if they all came with tow bars.

What is the vin number for the change to facelift?

Yes indeed, very. Within a couple of days of the end of the Mk 1's.

Sent an email to my contact at Locomotion to thank them for the use of the museum for the meet & got a reply back this morning

Hi Colin,

Thanks for your email - I'm pleased to hear you had an enjoyable day!

Thanks also for the photos - I'll share the link with the team here as I'm sure they would like to see them.

Hope we can work together again in the future,

That's great! Not to far away for the next time. Hopefully I'll not be on nights the night before and have time to do something so my car looks a bit better. Looks like it may be the youngest mk1 in the area, best start to make it look look like it is
