Default Starting Problem - Rover 75 CDTI

Hello

ROVER 75 CDTI

I have a starting problem like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lzlO2Uwme8

The problem is random, but is becoming more and more frequently.

Mechanics cannot understand what is caused by.

I have no power loss when I go at 100 mph+

The ECU did not logged any error codes.

Any of you had this exact problem?

The cam sensor is only used as a reference on start up, so it could be starting to fail.

A failing ECM, or low fuel pressure are the two other common reasons for the diesel failing to start.

If you had posted in January I would have taken a look as we were in Rome

Have a check of your fuel pressure, or injector leak back if Mikes tips don't cure the issue.

As long as the engine is turning over fast enough, like the petrol engine in your video, then yes you can rule out the starter motor.

The camshaft sensor often fails once it has warmed up, so if that is happening with your car try unbolting it and placing it in the freezer for 10 minutes and see if it then starts the car.

If it does then worth replacing it.

You mentioned earlier you didn't see any fault codes - what are you using to check the fault code log?

Unfortunately your ebay listing doesn't show a photo of the sensor they are selling, and my Italian is pretty much non-existent, so I can't confirm that is the correct part. I'm sure someone else will be able to though.

about the fault code
I connect with this ODB2 goo.gl/kDY2Ak using via Torque android app

I know that is not professional. I don't know if a professional tool can recognize more codes

What year is your car? The earlier diesels aren't OBDII compliant.
