Water leak into the boot
I know I have read many times about water leaking into the boot of the saloons. I have just noticed tonight that the carpet is slightly wet at the left side in what I would consider a strange place.
Left side when looking into the boot, directly under the boot lid hydraulic stay. I put my hand under the edge of the boot, and it was wet. I would say that water has leaked under the boot door rubber in this area. Is this a common area? I don't recall reading about this one before.

Now I must say firstly that as yet I don't own a 75. I have looked at a few though and most were if kept outside damp in the boot as you describe.
However one I looked at had the seam running from the back screen were the rear wing joins the boot channel area filled with silicon. Apparently this was not filled with seam sealer at the factory and let's water get in under the boot seal and drip into the boot. Just fill the seam with silicon and see if that cures it. |

There are a million posts on this, so quite common Rear window clips, feel under the rear window for points under the clips, these need sealing. Around the window trim, breaks in the rubber. Rear light seals, can be renewed from Jezzer, boot rubber trim, breaks in it can leak. Side chrome strips, the clips fixing these are another weakness, as is a vent behind the inner boot lining, covered in paper which obviously isn't good The boot hinges also are known to leak around the fixing bolts. So, there's a few.

Hi, Mike
I've had the same trouble with my 75SE - it was water leaking in through the hinge bolts. It was fixed with sealant and lasted for 70,000 miles - now they need doing again... |

Ronnie has covered most likely leaks. The one very likely is the rear window clips. There's a thread somewhere how to fix them, by Rich if I remember. This was certainly the case with the Facelift I bought this year.

I used to park my saloon nose down on my sloping driveway - water would accumilate around the lower boot seal then gradually leak into the boot eventually settling in wheel well
Parking on the flat solved the problem for me.
