Holy thread revival,

I'd just like to add I today received a packaged NOS bracket from Damen & Kroes and I'm delighted to get it, next job, get it in the car.

I have had an extinguisher fitted from day one. It is secured in the boot, nearside, by the hook and eye stick on gizmo. Never moves, and sticks like the proverbial.

As I understand it, if you need the use of the fire extinguisher, every second counts.

The only two time’s I have have had to use a fire extinguisher was first time in Brownhills when I witnessed a van drive out onto the A452 high street, and hit a car coming towards me. The driver, a woman, got out and ran back up the side road as the engine compartment started to smoke. I used the extinguisher on my lorry to put the fire out that had started. The other time was while overtaking a new lorry on the A38 going towards Litchfield, I noticed that the engine was smoking from the top under the cab. I managed to stop the driver, and explained why I had stopped him, he looked non plussed, got the extinguisher again from my lorry and put the alternator fire out. He said he had only picked it up 20 minutes ago from the garage. Not a happy bunny as he was an owner/driver.Not too bad for 45 years on the road.

I look upon the fire extinguisher as I do insurance, I have it and hope I never need it, and after all a common source for combustion seems to be the LSM which is inches away from your right knee so the extinguisher on the leading lower edge of your seat seems like a good idea to me.
