I fitted these recently to my car and I highly recommend them to anyone. Good quality and very bright indeed.

One thing to bear in mind about LED sidelights (and possibly other LED bulbs?) is if one fails it will not trigger a bulb failure warning. I had one fail, only noticed when I was about to put the car away in the garage one evening, no warning light, presume its something to do with the inbuilt resistor.

I have twin SMD Cree projector bulbs in my reversing lights, and as you say their pretty unmissible. The items in your link are a good idea, if they do a bayonet version I could get rid of the one's stuck to my rear bulb holder. All my rear lights are LED.

Canbus error lights
Canbus bulbs seem to have reached some kind of mystique.
The reality is very straight forward. The LSM monitors the current flowing through any monitored bulbs (it does not include for example front fog lights, reversing lights and SINGLE numberplate light failure). If the current is less than a minimum (as would happen if the bulb were not illuminated) then a warning is flashed up on the CANBUS. As LED bulbs generally draw much less current than filament bulbs, they are detected by the LSM as being failed. Canbus compatible bulbs merely fit a parallel resistor (for which they charge an excessive amount) which fools the LSM, wastes electricity, and CAN HIDE the fault if the LED bulb is not illuminating. LSMs can be theoretically (& fairly easily) modified to lower the current threshold for failures, allow (cheaper) LEDs to be fitted anywhere. However one can't subsequently change back to filament bulbs without unmodifying the LSM. Last edited by MarkS; 13th October 2019 at 08:44.. Reason: excessive |
