Spent half an hour clearing all the tools, parts and junk out of the tourer to take into the garage.
Wouldn't start again so I decided to roll it back off the ramps so I could get my van in front o jump it. Halfway off I remembered I forgot the 4x2 timbers that make the ramps shallower to stop the bumper catching. Too late jammed. I had to jack each front wheel to lift the ramps out. Jump started from the van again, all manner of warning lights on IPK! I tried to pull away and it wouldn't engage into drive, all of a sudden engine died. Because the Crankshaft pulley was slipping, the alternator was not charging the battery properly. Nothing to do other than take the fully charged battery out of the van and swap it over to get to the garage. More messing around! Bit of a fight to drive it 3 miles! With new battery in it started ok, switched all electrics off. The power steering very heavy at times and brakes had quite a bit of fade in the pedal! Obviously, to me now, they are all signs of the belts not turning properly. Sat at the traffic lights there was a huge cloud of smoke billowing out from underneath where the rubber in the pulley was disintegrating I was loathe to switch it off in case in wouldn't start again! Finally got there in one piece so it'll hopefully be sorted soon. |

Got the car back this morning. Cost £82.50 for 1.25 hours labour.
My mechanic said it was extremely tight and took over 30 mins hammering away with a 3/4 drive air gun to shift it! Still had warning lights on the ipk, airbag , brakes, light bulb. The drive home was fine air con working properly again now and fan is cutting in and out as it should Brakes were terrible, pedal was really stiff and I had to pump it a bit to work. read some useful advice on here and it turns out the vacuum line had not been reconnected off the egr control module. When I was putting it all back together last weekend I'd overlooked the hose to the brake servo. Once I'd found it, was simple fix to sort out. Waring lights gone. Also front indicator holder has decided to give up, bulbs ok but it looks a bit corroded, some filing required. Now to get on with the suspension issues. |

No that's not what it should do. The fan should run continuously while aircon is active. It seems that your slow speed has failed. (Replace resistor or a new fan system?) TC |
