Default Air con leak! Fixed.

I noticed that my air con was starting to whine when engaged so thought that I'd better get it checked out. I called in Graham Webster from Drive Cool in Norwich as he's done my motors before. Sure enough it was losing refrigerant from a seal. In no time at all, the front bumper was off and Graham had a new seal fitted. He then completed leak tests and refilled the system. All done very efficiently. As he was already here, I had the good lady's Polo done at the same time so we are good to go again. All done very efficiently and reasonably priced. Thank you Graham.

Thanks for telling us about your happy experience Mike. I always urge members not to use the cut price ‘fast fit’ outfits but instead to support the self-employed specialists in the air conditioning field. It’s good to hear that Drive Cool diagnosed a simple problem and repaired it on the spot without telling you that you needed a new compressor.

It was the seal where the pipe goes into the air con rad (more of an alloy washer really) but he showed me the leaked liquid using his UV light and looking through the orange glasses. Brilliant stuff. It was a matter of removing the bottom pipe securing bolt (very fiddly due to lack of wiggle room) cleaning up all the mating surfaces and replacing the seal. It gave me a chance to grease all the bumper bolts with waterproof grease and spray the matrixes with ACF-50 (great stuff to stop corrosion).
