Just a thought - how about a run to the North-West: Inverary/Oban/Fort William (etc.) way? (I recommend Norrie's Fish Bar in Oban!)

I agree with Pab - the summers can be nice up here...often...well, sometimes...and if we stick to the coast as much as possible the sea breezes will keep the dreaded midgies away.
How would this be..? A run from Glasgow up the A82 to Crainlarich (tea/buns at the Green Welly) then across Rannoch Moor (stopping at the viewpoint halyway across) to Glencoe (good grub at the Clachaig Inn) then down the coast road towards Oban (stop for more tea/buns at Stalker View Cafe - one of the world's best views out across the sea, with Stalker Castle in the foreground); fish 'n' chips from Norrie's in Oban (eat them on the seafront), then home via Lochgilphead and the Rest and Be Thankful pass. If that's too long you could go to Oban via Dalmally from Crainlarich - that would cut our Glencoe and Appin, though, and you'd miss some of the most beautiful countryside in the world, even if the Crainlarich-Dalmally-Oban road is very pretty in its own right. Just a thought... Cheers Steve |
