Does anyone have a 3d printer that I could use?
Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has a 3D printer that they wouldn't mind printing off something, I'd pay costs of course, just thought I'd ask here before I end up buying one. Thanks

If you can bear going south of the Tyne, then there's a FabLab at The Word building, and another one in Sunderland. The machines are usually free to use once you've done an induction.
Newcastle has a Makerspace. I'm sure someone there would knock up what you need for beer money (makers tend to like beer). I was going to take the plunge and buy a machine, but instead started off at my local FabLab to get the hang of things. Now I realise a budget machine isn't the answer especially when printing meaningful items in engineering plastics... ABS shrinks like a f*****, Nylon needs a lot of heat and can split into layers, it also absorbs moisture while your back's turned, PET seems to leave strings everywhere meaning you have to refinish the surfaces afterwards... |
