Well, the Magneti Marelli pump I purchased isn't exactly the same as the VDO pump. The top connection plate is rotated by 90 degrees compared with the original. This made crimping the hose back on even more awkward. The replacement filter that came with it also didn't fit, so cleaned through the original and reused it. Old pump had quite a rattle so I was hopefull . .
The good news is that once I'd reassembled everything she started first turn! Quite a relief to be honest. For me, getting the top hose off the old pump, and trying to release the 6 clips that hold the pump housing together were the most frustrating parts of the job. That and the hole under the rear seats not quite allowing removal and refitting of the pump retaining ring. Last edited by Typhoon190; 29th August 2022 at 08:32.. |
