Default Water ingress :(

It had to come sooner or later... water ingress seems to be a common issue for older cars, whatever make. Yesterday I found some moist in the carped behind the drivers seat. I also found some at the RH side in the boot right behind the tail light. The car is parked in a slight incline with the nose upwards. There have been some heavy rain lately, so this might have contributed to the ingress.

Anybody having some great advice??

Might be. Upgraded seals was fitted a 4-5 years back to prevent this. Should be easy to locate anyway. The moist in the rear carpet is something I dislike the most.

Agree, rear light seals no1 reason for a damp boot.

Regarding the inside, had the same in the same circumstances, incline, rear of driver's seat. After reading a thread from Arctic came to the conclusion mine was caused by the scuttle clips / holders. I found, following rain, that the far left scuttle clip was permanently under water (nowhere to drain).

I removed (following the guide) the scuttle panel, cleaned, and siliconed the white clip holders located under the scuttle panel, problem solved. When I got my newer 2004 car I did this as preventive maintenance.

Regards

Takes a few minutes to find one of Steve's "how to" ... he's done so many of them, but there again you've made some valuable contributions too.

Mine was from rear boot seals. Wheel well was full because I used to park nose down (sloping driveway)

Seals repaired water ingress stopped but he problem is drying out the carpets!

Also the grommet for the clutch was letting in water!

Default water in the boat

hi

my first project in my 75 was sorting out the leaks yes all 3 .
i had the same issue in my old r820si . i could not smell the damp but

the wife could need i say i still have the wife lol.

on my 75 i stripped out the the seats ,head liner sound proofing the carpets the lot and to my neighbours strange looks i got inside and the wife power washed the car/ leak 1 both back lights / leak 2 boot hinge but only leaked when i reversed the car into my garden as garden on incline leak 3 chrome strips both sides .
fixed all with good quality batroom silicone.
if you need to do the boot hinge mark out its position befor you remove it
i never did and its slightly lower than other side
hope this helps
