Default Pin Number Reversal

I got the below in a email this morning and i am sure it is from a good source and not one of them stupid/funny emails.

I have not heard of this before but thought it wouldn't do know harm in posting the infomation

PIN NUMBER REVERSAL

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.

The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card
you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown
to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it
is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

Very interesting that.

Now... is there anybody out there who is willing to give this a go?!

First I have heard of this and to be honest I'd be surprised if it is correct.

Two-factor authentication works on a simple premis of corralating what you have (your card) and what you know (your PIN) to grant you permission to a request - in this case to take money from your account. The systems I've been involved with didn't have an alert feature beyond the rule of 3 attempts before retaining the card. It is a good idea though.
