question asked
Hi Could you explain a bit more about these early engien design faults for me please. My Rover dealer told me that this 2.5 engien was never redesigned in 2004, or ever, so I guess any design fault is in everyone of these engines. Do you know what bit was redesigned at all as I don't want to buy any big problems? Thxs

and reply.......................
the dealer i bought from recond that there was trouble with early engines where the oil pump joins the block. the oil seal sometimes failed allowing aeration of the oil. he said oil seal replaced for different compound ones. thats what he told me,maybe he was spinning me one? i didnt care really as long as he replaced the engine which has been faultless ever since. As i said this car has been super to own and drive and not caused any problms since.

Fairy nuts
Pity he didn't take that tack in his add, makes much more sense. He is of course opening himself up to very poor bidding by running down the engine quality. Shame but someone may nab themselves a bargain. |
