I would say it's unlikely to be sticking valves. Mine did it off the bat with a brand new cylinder head.
It will feel like it spins over faster when it has stalled - it will be so drowned at that point that it takes a few turns to even try and come to life. |

I'm clutching at straws now trying to find out what is playing up.
But sticking valves did get me thinking, they would heat up and expand quicker than the valve guides. |

I have not followed this thread in detail. But if I was you, I would contact MarinaBrian. He is a cantankerous old man, but if anyone can solve your problem, he can.!
I sent him a computer box from South Africa. He fixed it and sent it back, good as new.! Sometimes you just bite the sour apple and go to the guy who knows what to do. ( Although I hate to admit it!)

I would, believe me I would, but I'm in France
He did give his opinion at the start of this thread but has never been back since. |

I know you are!!!
I am in South Africa!!! I know he is not good at answering emails! But get hold of him and he will sort your computer, for sure! If that is not the fault, I would try all sensors.

The wiring in the area of the throttle body ... underneath it where the multi-plug is ... is prone to rubbing and wearing away. I found this on my Rover 25 with one of the coil-pack cables which had worn through to the inner conductors. I covered the damage with some tape but it made no noticeable difference to the running of the car. Maybe I was lucky and caught it in time but I think that it might be worth investigating nonetheless. |

The car is serviced at the correct intervals with high quality 5w40 mobil engine oil.
It's not wiring loom problem either as I have a T4 and all sensors are being read correctly. I have just ordered brand new: coolant temp sensor MAP sensor plugs coil packs HT leads It starts on a flick of the switch, runs beautifully for 30 odd seconds and then starts to smell rich from the exhaust and the engine tickover drops to about 900 and starts playing up. |

Have you thought of replacing the throttle position sensor? It's about the only thing I can think of that you've not tried yet.

I haven't no, because T4 is telling me it's OK.

Any joy with that list of replacement parts Pete? I haven't had time to dig into the live data from mine, hopefully will in the next few weeks.
