Fuel & Engine Temp Gauge Stopped Working.
Noticed this evening that both the engine temperature gauge and fuel gauge had simultaneously stopped working (car had been at the National for the day and I'm sure they were both working yesterday).
Fuel gauge needle is showing completely empty with the light on, but the car has about a quarter tank of fuel. Car is an early 2.5V6 automatic. Any of our kind electrical gurus might know what's happened...?? Thank you in advance

Was the radiator fan running at high speed when the temp gauge was 'off'?

Hi Paul
Have you been on IPK diagnostic mode and checked to see if that’s reading the temperature correctly Mick

No, the radiator fan wasn't running (it does work however ).
I didn't look at the IPK temp Mick, as I assumed that wouldn't be working either. I'll be with the car again tomorrow though, so will check - cheers.

Checked it again this morning and the fault seemed to have disappeared. Also double checked the radiator fan and it's working.
However, just gone to move the car tonight and neither gauge is working again The IPK temp readout is operational though, it was climbing steadily tonight as the engine warmed up. With the digital readout working, I guess that eliminates the sender and wiring to the dash ? So could it be something in the instrument pack that's at fault ??

Thanks Mick, I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens. The car is not yet in regular use, and won't be for a while yet, so not the end of the world right now.
I was hoping there may have been a common fault causing this, with hopefully an easy fix Might try pulling all the connections off the back & plugging them in again, see if it helps cure it

I have just had problem with my door switches not working that drop/raise the windows, and couple times in past months my fuel gauge would read full when I knew it was half, then it would read half after I turned ignition on/off..... anyway had cause to check battery terminals and + was loose as hell and the - needed 4-5 turns.... Now my door switches working and (fingers crossed) the fuel gauge will behave itself....
