help radio staying on!
as above my radio will not turn off i have had to pull the fuse.the system is a bmw 16.9 head unit with a bmw bm24 tuner and a bmw mk4 nav drive sat nav shutting down ok. light goes out on the on /off button on the radio but it stays on .

Have you checked there is no water in the spare wheel well.
It might be worth a battery reset |

boot is as dry as a bone and has been for sometime.just replaced the fuse and all is ok .ie it turns off still annoying tho.might try some contact cleaner in the switch just in case i assume the knob just pulls off?

The problem is most likely the BM24 radio module - I have had several and found them unreliable - they suffer from dry joints on the circuit boards - this leads to audio dropping out and unresponsive controls, including not being able to switch the radio off.
I had exactly the problem you describe and tried everything. Eventually bit the bullet and upgraded to BM54 and problem went away. You could of course put the original Rover unit back in to check that I am right. I have a spare if you need one, and a couple of working BM24 units as well. |
