HK subwoofer in MG ZT
I fitted a HK subwoofer and the sound is good but a strange thing is if I leave the boot open I get a much better bas then when with closed boot? It's much better with the boot open so why is it?
I have made the hole in the shelf for the sub. And no, I will not drive with my boot open!

I seem to recall from my days playing with ICE that there are various different types of sub and enclosure. I would have thought the the HK sub would be in the best enclosure for it to work at its best, but it sounds as though it works better when there's a bit more air available.
I was enjoying the stereo in my ZT-T yesterday afternoon (turned up a little higher than usual as the children were with their grandparents) and as good as the standard Highline stereo and speakers are, the bass isn't particularly well defined so I'm considering fitting some of the Polk and Phoenix Gold kit that I have got kicking around somewhere from back in the day. |

If it's in a saloon, it should be sealed off from the boot tbh... shouldn't make a difference

Does anybody know the size of the speakers in the subwoofer? I'm thinking of upgrading as they distord way to early and I would like more punch in them.:-)

5.25" from memory BUT you can't just drop new speakers in a ported box!
The box is tuned for the driver - if you put in a different one it'll sound rubbish |

Thanks, but it can't be worse with some new sub speakers that can handle a little more power cause these start popping at way to low level.
