you are clamped at least a whole coil further apart then I can get. This is probably the problem, "there is so much spring" I'm not compressing.

Not to much of a problem taking apart, just the putting back together.
Costing me about £4.50 in biscuits to get mine ( just one as this is all I have apart) reassembled.

I'll add new spring compressors to the list of tools to buy once the Tourer is paid for.

Arctic, do you think the type I have would be secure holding on the "plate" as yours does?

They are "half" the price but no good if not secure

You can check a seller’s history with Best Offers here:

In this case, the average reduction the seller has accepted is about 14%, but there were no examples relating to this particular item.

I’d guess you could get a few pounds off, but the price already factors in the cost of delivery from Germany, so I wouldn’t think the seller would drop a lot.
