Photographic Memory
I have realized why as I get older, I don't seem to recall things while previously with what I used to consider a photographic memory my recall was rapid - that photographic memory has gone digital!

Very Good.
I think I'll claim the same, specifically in respect to one of two very large Belfast structures. Regards Mike

Noticed that for some time now. After much frantic searching for reasons why I can't recall some things precisely, such as where I left my glasses, I don't seem able to remember exactly where I searched, or for what.
I've come to the conclusion that my memory is perfect and it's just that day-to-day activity that years ago I did with full attention being given, I now do mundane things on auto pilot so less attention is given. Current events memory is now stored on several floors down, whereas old friends and places are fresh as a daisy and maintained on the roof terrace and in the always bright sun. Perfectly understandable, and I'll fight anybody who disagrees.

Short term memory seems to be the first to go as you get older.--I suppose that as you get older you will have taken on board all the information you need to survive.--New info won't then be required so your brain just dumps it.--It joins the clutter of---not needed on the voyage info--------

I used to work with a women who had a genuine photographic memory, she could read a manual and tell you what was on any line on any page. We used to test her and it was truly amazing. A week or two later she could not even tell you what was on the first line of the first page.
On the down side she had little or no common sense and had no personality and was sooooo boring, I met her husband once and he was even worse. A total bore but could tell you the weather on any date in the last 25 years. It is odd about this short term memory loss, I was out in my van last week and I actually forgot how to get to my next customer even though I go there every two weeks, I had to sit and think about it. |
