Of course you as a TestBook owner are licenced to utilise your own copy of RDS, in conjunction with VT4

It would be nice to be able to use both on a tablet to make a compact unit but I would assume there would be issue with the various operating systems such as on a Microsoft Surface for example?

I wasn't suggesting you installed it on your TestBook John, I feel a 486SX 25MHz 16 Mb machine may not cope with the processing demands of Phil's software

I've been following this thread with a lot of interest, hoping it's within my budget when it's released to us mere mortals

Excellent. Thanks for the clarification. I'm surprised the question hasn't been asked already, but it was the use of the name Virtual 'T4' that got me thinking. Shouldn't it be unassociated with that name when it's finished?

I'm not in any way underestimating the value of the diagnostics kit in the OP to people who just need their fault codes read and erased. It sure is a great kit if it can also diagnose ABS and SRS faults and will further be developed and updated.

But for the ones like me, who doesn't have a real T4 within, I don't know, a 1000 miles, it definitely is appealing to have all the advantages of T4 without the entire original setup. Even if it means additional costs in the form of RDS software and data discs.

What great developments and anxiously looking forward to what comes next

Given the price of the original licenced software involved (RDS and data discs) Virtual T4 I should imagine won't be cheap unless Phil is doing his magic and sorting out a bespoke operating system and data software

Depends on what Phil will be asking when and if he decides to make his interface and software available

This morning I got this working on a Raspberry Pi (I mean the pscan.eu solution not the other one).

This gives people two options.

1. If you want a carputer with a touch screen in your dash, if you want to make it Pi powered it will just work.

2. You could export the graphics from the program to an X server on a phone or tablet instead. You would need a wifi or ethernet connection from the phone/tablet to the Pi but that's pretty easy to do.
