So the answer to your question has no relevance to you.

I am asking a perfectly legitimate question of the club and you are becoming aggressive towards me.

believe it or not there are still banned members lurking in the shadows under different names.

Who? might you ask,it is known,we won't get fooled again

Perhaps a simple request like "Who are you" would suffice

Ok, I will ask the questions, what specifically does the company do with personal data? Secondly, can the company point me towards theire policy on data protection?

It is all very well saying the data is necessary to keep out undesirables, but what other use does it get put to? There are a lot of organisations out there that will pay for data and then use it for their own ends, I don't want my information being given away or sold on.

Although the Club, as a not for profit company, is exempt under the Act for registration, we fully endorse and adhere to the eight principles of the Act. These principles state that personal data must be:

2. Processed for specific & lawful purposes and not in any other way which would be incompatible with those purposes
3. Adequate, relevant and not excessive
4. Accurate and kept up to date
5. Not kept for longer than is necessary
6. Processed in line with the data subject’s rights
7. Kept secure
8. Not transferred to a country which does not have adequate data protection laws

We will not disclose your personal information to a third party unless we believe it is lawful to do so, or are legally required to do so. We have a responsible Club policy and will not pass on your details to anyone outside of the Club for marketing, harvesting, or any other purposes.

Under the Act, you may write to the Club to request a copy of the information which we hold about you. We reserve the right to charge the fee payable under the Act for providing this information.

Currently this fee is a maximum of £10. We are unable to provide the details until this fee has been paid. Under the terms of the Act, the club reserves the right to provide the information within forty days of the request being received.

If the details we hold are incorrect you can ask us to amend them. Or, as members, you can change the personal information data yourselves, where allowed dependant upon membership status, without recourse to the Club, or its officers.

This policy will be updated as necessary to reflect best practice in data management, security and control and to ensure compliance with any changes or amendments made to the Data Protection Act 1998.

Thank you - I was just about post up the link to the text that Reebs posted. It is all explained in there - including a "get out" for those that don't want to divulge said information.
