Personally, id rather have the black 5! more useful, the scotsman overhaul, rebuild whatever has taken too long and cost too much due to previous NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- ups

The black five was a truly magnificent machine that gave sterling service on a minimum of maintenance and poor coal. One of the class achieved 97mph between Gobowen and Shrewsbury in 1967 when the last few steam locos were falling apart. As an ex BR fireman I can state that the best engines I ever worked on were the Stanier Duchess class, closely followed by the rebuilt scots.
