I think you'll find the drains are 'pinched' at the end in a duckbill fashion. Snipping these off creates a wider opening in the drain.

Its the leaves and other detritus getting in there which causes the problem. Stop it getting and the problem is for the most part solved. Your choice - Jules Mod, gutter guard plastic mesh or foam /sponge strip to seal up the gaps.

I used gutter guard (now a pound in Pound shops), which is an open mesh and it works fine. I would be a little wary of putting any thing in there which retains water, as that can promote body rot/rust.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

One member on our forum had a great idea for testing if the Plenums are blocked:
"pour some water into the chamber and watch below to see if it flows through"
if it flows then there will be no blockage, if not then get prodding

Here's the suggested mod (bottom right): http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/index.php?thepage=howto

I personally doubt the effectiveness of any upper tube modification. If rubbish enters the plenum, it will eventually bung up the floor drains no matter what shape the nozzle on the upper ones. I guess this is why facelift models have the upper drain tube shorter and full bore. The plenum floor drains are always the flooding culprits. The nearside one is easy to keep clear and is sufficient for keeping everything dry. Forget the other one. Or if regularly rodding through is a chore, fit a water alarm.

I can tell you harry because the holes in the aquatic foam are large no water is retained and after 3 years nary a sign of rust whatsoever, its simple its effective and easy to maintain but each to his own of course
