Default Ball joint thread?

Hi,having a nightmare separating the ball joint on the front wishbone, the one that feeds through the subframe.Been at it every afternoon for a week. Its the one that fits into the subframe.Tried everything possible including dropping the weight of the car onto the exposed stud.Ball joint separator only separated the wishbone casting from the ball joint.Using a lump hammer after plenty of plus gas no joy.Started drilling from underneath with cobalt drills using a larger drill each time was going great until the latest drill bit snapped off and is stuck in the stud.I am persevering.
Anyway the main point of this is I have had to chisel off the locknut that tightens it to the subframe and need to order another,it is M14- 22mm spanner, what I need to know is this a standard thread pitch which there are plenty of or is the thread finer,it seems finer on the replacement wishbone but can someone confirm please.Regards a bruised Ryszard...

Some come with the nut, some don't,
I took an old one into a 'nut and bolt supplier' and they had one to match.
When nyloc wasn't available once,I used two nuts, one as a locknut.
Ken.

Hi,latest update on ball joint, despite working on it every afternoon it is still seized in the subframe.Done the warming up around the subframe but only have a gas canister torch not oxy/ACC which would get it hotter.Everything loosened just the wishbone left swinging loosely on top of the knuckle.Another go tomorrow.IF and WHEN I do get it out I wonder if it will be possible to see any stamping on it to ascertain whether it is the original Rover wishbone or maybe a cheap copy in which the balljoint was of milder construction resulting in practically fusing into the taper.Looks like it might be one step closer to a subframe removal. Thanks to John H offer of help in case this is what will need to be done.I will keep you posted.Re the locknut I have been to several motor factors but none have been able to help. Will try some more but not till I get success first. This MAY be the first time in 40 years I have been beaten by a mechanical problem. Can't wait till tomorrow!!!!Regards a cold Ry...

Success, finally this afternoon got it out, thanks to never throwing anything out I used my dad's old heavy duty cold chisels which he used while working on the railway over 50 years ago. They are nearly as heavy as the 4lb lump hammer.Lined the chisel up on the knuckle and after several hours hammerimg it finally released.I was so stunned I lay there looking at it not believing my eyes.Regards Ry...
