Checked one of my stored cars and found they have chewed the foam rubber blocks at both ends of the seal across the back of the engine compartment. No other damage I noticed, but must check the others tomorrow.

Real shame about that lovely interior but shame to scrap the car.

Thank you all for the support expressed and we have not decided on what to do as yet. Will try speaking to the insurance brokers Monday and see what they say have bookmarked a repalcement armrest on ebay which is £20 and have been offered a pair of seats for £200 in the same trim so armed with this information will speak to them and see what they say.

Now she still needs her sills repaired for the MOT which is another £150 so we have to weigh all this up but yes considerign the work and upgrades that i have done over the years it is heart breaking. The improvements and upgrades that i have done are:-

S/S coolant pipes
Alloy radiator
TV5 52mm Throttle body
Trophy 160 air flitler assembly
S/S braided hoses
AP 4 pot calipers with 304mm discs
16" Multispoke alloys with 5 mm spacers to clear the AP's
Part Poly bushed suspension
MY2000 Interior
Wooden steering wheel with Mk2 air bag
Mk2 carpets
Side intake scoops
TF snorkle heater intake
Servo brace
New plug leads upgraded ones
New coil pack
6 stud exhaust manifold and downpipe
S/S bolts replacing rusted originals
Shortened gear lever and wood gear knob.

Then she has had the usual service and wear related itmes replaced including:-

Both front bottom ball joints
Upper ball joints
O/S drive shaft due to worn CV (had a good one so fitted that )
O/S gearbox drive seal
Clutch slave cylinder and fluid change
brake fluid change
Nightbreaker bulbs in both main and dip
LED 501's for side lights
Wiper motor replaced
Coolant return hose
New CAT
Door speakers and fitted tweeters
replaced clouded headlamps
Rear brake calipers and discs/pads

She was bought with 6 months test but could not be driven far due to coolant loss. Seller said HGF but the coolant was dripping at the front. Radiator was rotted out the drivers seat was ripped to heck and the black plastic was grubby hence the decision to swap out fot the MY2000 interior in a lighter shade . The wooden wheel is because I love them so .

The timing of this is just awful as I wager now this is happened we will get a complition date next week .

Shocking, but don't despair. Nothing that a good upholsterer can't put right.

I had mice in the 75's engine bay,at the airport parking area, over a couple of weeks they chewed through the diesel return pipe which covered the engine bay in diesel, which in turn, led to alternator failure+chewed through 3 wires.
Since then I've got one of those mains plug in-sonic deterrent and an electric battery powered/mains charger mouse/rat killer. This needs peanut butter in it,but 'fingers crossed'has worked well ,in my garage--so far.
Also- in my classic car, people in that forum have advised the use of peanut butter to enhance and bring back the 'black look' to plastic switches and other black plastic components that have faded with age,,,you can see why I haven't used peanut butter inside any of my cars-you don't need to encourage the little blighters, do you?
Ken.
ps. I can recommend Aldridge trimmers at Birmingham for interior trimming--I bought a full kit for my classic, which included carpets and door cards,as well as seat covers.
Good luck,whichever way you go.

I fit one of these in each of the engine bays come this time of year and few more sporadically placed around the sheds. No mouse problems since.

I had exactly the same a few weeks ago. I expected to find worse but seems like it was just the foam blocks.

Just after I purchased my V6 I found the dear little ones had chewed most of the insulation on the underside of the engine cover.
Earlier this year when replacing my cam belts I was amazed just how much stuff was still lying in there.
