I find it more difficult on the 'Auto' as apposed to the 2 manual cars that I've had,as there are more bits of wiring loom in the way,so last time I moved the under bonnet fuse box,and got in that way.
Since then I have wandered if a stick or stiff wire,with an appropriate sized terminal ,on the end--to fit onto one of the male terminals ,on the new bulb,would help to get it through the access panel,in the wheel arch.
I'll try this next time.

If this works and helps with people with fat fingers or difficult access then it may be a contender for the 'how to section' we'll see.
