Default 75 / zt rear windscreen removal

Got the chance of a very cheap rear windscreen out of a wrecked 75.
As my ZT s rear window heater elements are shot, thought Id grab it.
Got as far as taking the rear chrome trim off and found a heap of window clips.. dosnt look like there would be much polyurathene glue under the glass.
(owner of the car said just get a grinder and cut the metal all around it !!)
Brutal but effective !!!
Anyone have any info on how hard these are to remove!!

When I had my front one changed, they used a hotwire/cheese cutter type thing,to cut through the mastic, rear might be the same bonding.

Yes it's held in like the front screen, problem is if they used a grinder to cut the metal round the glass you may find the glass is covered in lots of small metallic particles that have adhered to it. Clean the glass and run your hand over it to feel for smoothness.

i like the idea of the hot wire type cheese cutter.
That would work a treat!!
Maybe somthing like an 80 watt soldering iron with a half a hacksaw blade in it ?

Please dont use a grinder

Get one of these

Then poke wire through bond, attach handle each side of wire, and saw it out, easy

Just another thing to consider-some of the earlier screens connected to a different type of aerial booster box ,if it's different to yours, you might take that one as well as the screen.

Think it is a 2002 and the ZT is a 2003 so hope the aerial is the same.
The long stanley blade sounds good, its bendy so might just cut through the polyurethene .
Is it better to cut from the outside or the inside ??

Pain in the *** to do, even the pros have a hard time getting them out without breaking them.

Cut from the inside, remove as much of the interior trim as you can
