Just shows the high esteem with which Derek was held, 8 pages of tributes, and still they come.

I can't think of a better way too pay respect too a club member that's done so much and served his country.
A fine tribute too a honourable member and soldier. Derek will always be remembered on the forums by his posts and the members that had he privilege too meeting such a fine human being. RIP.

Christopher and I have already had discussions about a Windrush Award and we will be creating one for Best Car in Show at our next National meet. This will run alongside the Gryphon Award of the same name which will now be presented each year at the second National Meet of the year.
As for the forums shutting down for a period as a mark of respect, I think that's a good idea, it's just a question of when and for how long. |

Possibly on the day he is laid to rest, during the time of the service?

Derek was a true gentleman- he encouraged us from the start when this club was set up and he only ever had words of encouragement and support since then. I would love seeing him and Lillian (and their dog!) at meets - always there, always smiling. The world has lost a remarkable person - my thoughts are with Lillian and his family.

Sad news before Christmas. I have spoken to Derek several times at our POL visits. A real Gentleman. Rest in peace.

Thank you. Not everyone will be able to make the funeral. I am fairly certain that Lilian would appreciate a condolence card, whilst some of the bereaved say “No Flowers”.
I wonder if Actros or Rev Jules could find out what Lilian’s wishes are? If not flowers, how about a donation to The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice where Derek spent his last days ........there is a donation page on their website. http://www.pth.org.uk Last edited by Gate Keeper; 19th December 2017 at 03:54.. |
