Default Coolant smell MG ZT 1.8T

Hi all hope you are all well.
Over the past couple of years now I have been getting a coolant smell from my ZT when hot. There has never been any signs of leaks but I have had to keep topping up the header tank every odd 100/200 mile or so. I decided to bite the bullet and change all the hoses and to my surprise found that the small hose that feeds the turbo had a red Chalky substance around the underneath of the pipe (out of view). The jubilee clip that clamped this pipe up had obviously been changed at some point and was to large, so as it had been tightened it was going egg shaped causing a very small leak allowing coolant to drop on the turbo. Anyone experiencing the same please check this pipe.

Good pointer. The 1.8T has the most sensitive cooling system of all the engines. I watch mine like a hawk and have chased a couple of small leaks which (fingers crossed) are now resolved.

At the first hint of a leak she is up on a ramp with engine running - it has saved me twice - first time the IMG leaking - 2nd time the small turbo hose clip had come loose - anytime i get a coolant loss first step is to get her on the ramp to spot the leak ( if external of course)
