Although I'm still working, the lack of vehicular movement has meant I've been able to tackle a few jobs on the 75 over the last few weeks.

I started with a front end refresh. The bumper came off with the following carried out:

• Second horn fitted
• Upper grille slats painted matt black
• Lower grille mesh de-rusted, etch primed, painted gloss black and lacquered
• Fog light lenses cleaned internally
• Chrome indicator bulbs fitted
• Shannon tube replaced
• Rubber lip splitter fitted
• Stainless steel dome hex head bolts along the slam panel
• Stainless hex undertray and brake duct fixings
• Chrome edging trim to the three lower openings
• Headlight lenses cleaned and polished inside and out
• Protective edging trim to chassis seam beneath drivers headlight.

Then my attentions turned to the rear arches. With the car in the air, both wheels and arch liners were removed. Fuel line guard plate removed, cleaned up and Hammerited in hammered black. Road rash to inner arches cleaned up, degreased, treated with Jenolite, etch primed then painted with smooth silver Hammerite (which is uncannily close to Starlight Silver!). The inner cheeks to the rear sills around the trailing arm bushes also received a similar treatment and the brake pipes cleaned up where they pass up alongside the fuel tank. The backplates and discs also got a lick of black Hammerite to tidy them up.

Now all back together and looking pretty tidy.

How much dried mud did you find behind the arch covers in the front of the rear wheel arch?

I thought about removing my wheel arch liners whilst I was doing brakes recently but the nuts / threads holding them on looked like they might round / snap off if I rushed the job. Did you clean up the threads with a nut or die or just wirebrush first?

Just a thought ..... Wirebrushing and painting your calipers to match the wheel arch would look good?

More than I would have liked, but not a huge amount as I try to keep them clean.

Need to tackle the front liners next but can't remove the rusted screws that attached it to the sill end cap

The nuts holding the liners on are plastic - the condition of the threads wasn't too important as I have used rubber plumbers washers to retain the liners instead (a tip c/o Arctic). The threads were wire-brushed with everything else then dolloped with Hammerite.

The threads holding the the fuel line guard on the o/s are more important - I gave them a pre-brushing and squirt of PlusGas, but still sheared of the one the five when undoing . The remaining four cleaned up nicely though so the original nuts refitted without bother.

I've put thought to painting the calipers but as this requires special paint it's a job to go on the list. Question is - yellow, orange or lime green

Crawling round in the arches and under the sills is no joy so hope I won't need to give them any further attention bar cleaning for a good while!

70mm diameter fits perfectly. The 50cm length was slightly too long but didn't warrant trimming. The original tube was pretty gone!
